Brian Ponting our GSL, sadly passed away on Tuesday night after battling cancer.

Brian has been involved in Scouting just about all of his life and was devoted to scouting and the development and building of young peoples lives. He joined the 1st Winterbourne Down and Buryside Scout Group as Group Scout Leader at the end of 2003. Brian has played a major role in the rebuilding of the Scout Hall, spending many many hours working to get it ready to open in 2007. Brian has been responsible for the overall running of the group and has seen the group grow to over fifty young people. Brian was also running the Scout Troop and did a fantastic job inspiring the young scouts through his example.

We will all miss Brian, he was a lot of fun and had so much enthusiasm for scouting, he took a lot of pride in the group and the new scout hut that he helped to complete. I think we will all miss a good friend. We extend our thoughts and our prayers to Brian’s family especially his beloved wife Mary.

The funeral will take place at Westerleigh Crematorium and Cemetery at 11am on Wednesday 20th January.
