Employees of Hewlett Packard in Filton have spent one of their community days helping the Scout Goup again. This time, the nine HP employees erected the new fence and Gate to the front of the Scout Hut.This took all of Friday and also Saturday morning to finish the five panels and gate.

This should make the area more secure and should stop the situation where the temporary fencing is pulled down across the pathway. There are still three posts and panels that need to be added to finish the job and it is hoped that we will be able to get some volunteers to help complete this. If you or anyone you know can help us do this please let us know.

We should also be able to make progress with the levelling of the site inside the gate now the boundaries are better defined. As you can see, we also did a bit of 'weeding' too.

1st Winterbourne Down and Buryside Scout Group HQ

We now have our own Scout Headquarters that is used by all the group, the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. This is a fantastic facility for us and allows us to do so much more than when we were previoulsy renting premises on a temporary basis.

We'd like the local community to get full use out of this facility and there are preliminary discussions for a new explorer group to use this hall too and we hope that other groups will be interested in using it as well.

We are still working on finishing this facility

so it may appear a bit 'scruffy' out the front at the moment but we are planning on addressing this. The local council have recently been great in tidying up the triangle in front so now it's our turn to do our best!
