Scout HQ History

The Scout HQ has quite a bit of history, it was originally a wooden building that was used by the scout group and shared by the whole community, it was the last wooden Scout building in the area and had been used for many years. Unfortunately it was condemned in 1994 and the scout group had to move out and the hut was pulled down. From this time, the Scout Group operated from a variety of locations including a school and a church hall. At the same time, the group was trying to raise enough funds to rebuild the hall so that we could move back in.
Eventually, in 2007, and with a lot of hard work from the leaders and the groups exec committee and help from grant organisations, businesses and the local parish council, the Scout group finally had raised enough funds to complete enough of the New Hall to finally move in. A plaque is now hanging in the hall to commemorate this significant milestone for the group. The new HQ is a considerable improvement on the old building and the group is encouraging all local groups to use the facilities. The Hall still needs some work done to it to be completely finished, this will continue as funds become available.
If you or your group would like to use the hall for either a one-off event or a series of events, please contact any of the leadership team using this website or complete a request via the booking form and we will get back to you to discuss.
As mentioned previously, this feat could not have been completed without the very great assistance of a number of benefactors. We extend a very very grateful thank you to you all.

A short video that shows the rebuilding of the scout HQ can be seen here soon by clicking on the Scout HQ Sign here. (Not yet Activated!)
Without the very generous help of the following people, we would not be here.....
