Christmas Trees for sale. Christmas Trees in Bristol, Christmas wreaths for sale. Christmas decorations

2012 Christmas Tree Sale
We are selling Christmas trees again this year to raise money for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. In order to make the sale successful we are trying to get as many orders as we can to minimise the cost of returns. Some wholesale prices have risen from last year and we have had to reflect this in the prices below. We had good feedback from the last three years - people were really happy with the trees they bought and looking at the trees this year they look great!
If you would like to reserve a tree, see our pre-order store and select what you'd like and we'll contact you or just email us to let us know of your interest so that you can pre-order.
Please collect from the Scout Hut, Bradstone Road, Winterbourne either 10am to 1pm Sat 8th, Sun 9th, Sat 15th or Sun 16th December.

Welcome to the new Web Site for the 1st Winterbourne Down and Buryside Scout Group.
This is our new web site which will develop over time and should provide lots of information about our group and the activities we take part in.
We are a mixed gender group for 6 to 14 year olds that operates in the North Bristol area, in Winterbourne, and we are part of the Cotswold Edge scout district. Winterbourne is part of South Gloucestershire.
The group consists of the following sections, each contains boys and girls:
Beavers - aged 6 to 8 years old
Cubs - aged 8 to 10 1/2 years old
Scouts - aged 10 1/2 to 14 years old
This site is intended as a resource to help keep leaders, Cubs, Scouts, Beavers and all parents up to date with the latest information about the group. It also covers the Scout Hall and has a booking page that shows when the Hall can be booked and show what facilities are available. We also have a fund-raising section as we are looking to complete the Hall for all to use. If you have any comments/suggestions for the site please see the 'contact us' section or enter comments in the Guest Book.
If you are interested in joining the group, look at the information above and use the 'contact us' in the 'New Members' section.
This new Web site is currently in use and is open for viewing and registration. Please encourage all parents to register so that they will be able to see all areas as some are restricted to only those who are part of the group. Registering can be found in the members area. |

The Scouts took part in the Jamboree Over The Internet (JOTI) event again this year. This is a worldwide event that scouts from most countries take part in. Click on either of the pictures to go to the JOTI website and see the pictures of the event. They talked to scouts from all over the world and used Skye to talk and see each other. Here is Peter talking to scouts in North Carolina, USA. Many thanks to Ian who organised the whole event and to the WIA for very kindly letting the scouts use their fantastic facillities. A number of scouts were awarded their Global Challenge badges after this activity and the follow-up work that they did later.

This year we had two teams of Scouts enter the annual Malvern Challenge. This is a weekend camping event that includes an eight mile hike with eight challenges to complete along the way on the Saturday. In addition, there were other great events over the weekend including talent competitions, sports competitions, headline bands and a fair. There were around 4500 people attending this event from many areas of the country including scouts, explorers and guides. Above we can see one of our teams completing the Abseiling activity. |

All the scouts took part in the Scuba Diving introduction session recently as part of their Adventure Challenge badges. This was the first time that these scouts had done this activity and was really enjoyed by them all. The sessions took place at Thornbury leisure centre in March. More photos can be seen in the Scout Gallery.
